2024 CHSAA BLAX POSTSEASON TOURNAMENT

CHSAA POSTSEASON

The post-season starts on May 7, 2024.

It is a huge honor to represent our association at the CHSAA post-season tournament.

CALL TO ACTION TO JOIN THE RMLOA/CHSAA POST-SEASON ASSIGNMENT COMMITTEE

The RMLOA Playoff Assigning Committee and CHSAA select and assign the appropriate and qualified officials to each post-season game.

CHSAA publishes each post-season game assignment as a round-by-round assignment.

If you would like to serve on the playoff assigning committee, send an email to Scott Goettelman at sgoettelman@hotmail.com and Todd Goulding at toddg24@gmail.com not later than Sunday, May 5 at 5PM.

If you choose to serve on the playoff assigning committee, you are NOT eligible to work the Quarters, Semis, or Finals as the R, U, or FJ.

The RMLOA and CHSAA implemented these limitations for transparency and to avoid the appearance of impropriety.

CRITERIA FOR POST SEASON ELIIGIBILITY

To be eligible for consideration to work the CHSAA post-season tournament, the following criteria is set forth in our Bylaws:

* Paying annual dues to the RMLOA as determined by the Board of Directors.

* Achieving a passing score of not less than eighty percent (80%) on the CHSAA annual boys’ lacrosse rules test.

* Attending a minimum of three (3) training & development rules/mechanics meetings.

* Subject to geographic region needs and game assignments, officiating one (1) pre-season high school boys’ lacrosse scrimmage

* Subject to geographic region needs and game assignments, officiating a minimum of eight (8) boys’ high school regular season varsity level lacrosse games and two (2) boys’ high school regular season sub-varsity level lacrosse games.

POST-SEASON GAME ASSIGNMENT PROCESS

On Sunday afternoon, CHSAA will release the post-season seedings and then a committee formed by CHSAA and the RMLOA will begin to assign the playoffs.

The committee selects each post-season game assignment based on merit and availability.

Each official selected for a post-season game earned that assignment.

First and Second Round Games: The committee utilizes reasonable efforts to assign three (3) officials: R, U, FJ

The Quarters, Semis, and Finals: The committee utilizes reasonable efforts to assign five (5) officials: R, U, FJ, CBO, Timer

The RMLOA Board asks each official to timely accept their playoff assignment!

Qualified new officials are eligible to work the Timer position in the Quarters, Semis, or Finals for several reasons, including:

* Participating in a high-level pre-game conference.

* Participating in a high-level game atmosphere.

* Motivation to continue to develop their craft and earn an on-field post-season assignment in the future.

IT IS IMPERATIVE EVERYONE UPDATES THEIR BLOCKS AND MILEAGE RESTRICTIONS FOR THE POST-SEASON!

For the post-season, the Board suggests you increase your mileage restriction to a radius of fifty (50) miles or more.

If your current mileage restriction is set at ten (10) miles, you constrict the post-season games you might be qualified to work.

If you plan to work the AYL playoffs, make sure to block your CHSAA BLAX calendar so the committee does not mistakenly assign you a high school playoff game and then you turn back the assignment.
